Software Development

Software built around the way your business works.

Build practical web apps, mobile apps, portals and internal tools around a defined business need.

A better way to manage the work

When repeated data entry, disconnected spreadsheets or scattered approvals make work harder to manage, a focused tool may help. We start with the workflow, the people using it and the business requirement before defining what to build.

Our development process

Understand the requirement

Map the workflow, users and business need.

Define the scope

Agree priorities, constraints, responsibilities and success criteria.

Review the design

Map the user journey and review proposed screens.

Build in agreed stages

Develop the agreed functionality with milestone reviews.

Test the relevant cases

Check functionality, permissions and relevant edge cases.

Support acceptance and launch

Work through client acceptance and an agreed launch.

Document and hand over

Provide documentation and the agreed ownership and access handover.

Plan further support

Arrange maintenance or additional development where required, under a separately agreed scope.

What stays with your team

Confirm requirements and priorities; provide authorised access and relevant information; review designs and milestones; approve business rules and acceptance criteria; confirm launch and ongoing ownership arrangements.

How an engagement starts

Tell us what the software should help people do and what you use now. We review the requirements, access and feasibility, then agree scope, design, testing, dependencies and acceptance criteria. You can commission this independently of operational support.

Clear scope from the start

Feasibility and integrations are assessed individually. Source code ownership, intellectual property, licensing, hosting, third party costs, handover and support terms are agreed in the project contract. Software development, hosting and maintenance are not automatically included in an operations fee.
Good to know

Questions about software projects.

Can we commission software without an operations support engagement?

Yes. Software development can be commissioned as a standalone project. Operational support and software development have separate scopes and deliverables.

Can Astrino improve an existing application?

Possibly. Existing applications require assessment, authorised access and a review of the technology, code, dependencies and change required before a scope can be agreed.

Can new software connect to our existing systems?

Integration feasibility depends on the relevant systems, available APIs, permissions, platform restrictions and agreed technical scope. Compatibility is assessed before it is promised.

Who owns the software and source code?

Ownership, intellectual property, licensing and source code arrangements are agreed in the project contract. These terms should be clear before development begins.

Are hosting and maintenance included?

Hosting, third party costs, maintenance and ongoing support are separately defined. They are not automatically included in either an operations fee or a development project.

How long does a software project take?

Delivery timelines depend on scope, complexity, integrations, dependencies and client reviews. A schedule is agreed after the requirements are understood.
